The Irish Goodbye

Your email inbox and Slack workspace have never been so useless. The amount of spam, sales emails, and threads you forgot to exit from projects you have forgotten about months ago linger and distract you from working efficiently.

The other night, I was included on an email thread 72 replies deep, discussing which text hook needs to be used in a social media reel that I think I sold 45 days ago. Wouldn’t it be nice to ghost that chat, or politely announce your exit? Our business comms needed an Irish Goodbye.

I immediately logged into Emergent, toggled to Claude 4.6 and began building a solution that I thought would be for internal use only. Within the hour, I bought irishgoodbye.io, integrated Gmail and Slack. I also built out a feature to take control of your Google Calendar, allowing only certain people to have the ability to invite you to meetings.

It was cathartic to break up with old email threads and Slack messages. I even built an AI to send you summaries once per week as well to tell you all the fun you missed out on in the threads that you abandoned.

When I showed it to my friend for a laugh, he inspired a feature that may be best of all. The AI can now detect when you have received a cold prospecting email, and it automatically sends back an email to the salesperson promising a thoughtful reply, if they simply pay a flat fee. Now, you can set your own rate, so that mass marketing emails can have some skin in the game to determine if your time is worth their money.

The name is a 10/10, the product, pretty good too. In the long run, I could see viral marketing campaigns from the likes of PE Guy and Mark Cuban encouraging executives to take back control of their lines of communication.

Next time you are struck with an idea, run over to Emergent.sh and begin building. Start with a descriptive prompt such as:

“Build me an app to manage all travel plans for my team. This is a US based team, and I want to be able to track everyone’s flights, rides to and from the airport, total cost, hotels, meals and expenses, so that we can log into a single view and see a team/individual view for both one off trips and our overall organizational travel plans week to week, month to month and year to year”
